3 day Flamingo Festival begins near Pulicat Lake in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh
Nellore district is all set for Flamingo festival. Pulicat lake in Nellore district extends over 600 km of Andhra and Tamil Nadu boundaries. Every year in october these salt lake will give hospitality for foreign birds. From the months of October to January, this foreign birds entertain the bird lovers, viewers.
As they cannot tolerate winter cool in western countries they come to Pulicat lake from various parts of South America and For four months, along the Pulicat lake, the nearby landscapes and bamboo they stays comfortably warm. Nesting eggs, putting the eggs and nourishing them. After the end of the winter they fly to their home place along with their children.
With the arrival of foreign birds, this place is bustling. In 2001, the district collector Praveen Kumar decided to organize a festive season to make this occasion more enthusiastic. It was named ‘Flamingo Festival’ in the name of the Sea Romacchi (Flamingo) bird.
From 2014, the government recognized the ‘Flamingo Festival’ as a state festival. The festival will be held on January 7, 8, and 9. Festival will be celebrated in Sulurualuppettu, Nelapattu, Atakaniyitta and Bhimuniwararipalam sea ports.
Travelers can also come here from both telugu states, Karnataka and other parts of Tamil Nadu to see the beauty of birds. Apart from stalls in the junior college premises, sports competitions, and various cultural programs in the evenings are special attraction.
