Amaravati to Anantapur Expressway in 2 years: Chandrababu Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said the Anantapur-Amaravatiexpressway will be ready in two years. The project cost is put at about Rs 27,600 crore.
At a review meeting of R&B department on Thursday, he said this expressway will be key for all-round development of Rayalaseema. He claimed that Centre has agreed to fund the project.Sources said the officials worked out the estimates for construction of 598.78-km expressway along with connectivity to Kurnool and Kadapa.
“The expressway will be designed for a speed of 120-130 kmph with straight alignments,” a senior official said. Tunnels and viaducts would form part of the mega road to negotiate hilly terrains.
Officials said once the expressway is ready, the existing distance from Anantapur to Amaravati will be reduced by over 100 km.The officials had already submitted a feasibility study report and detailed project report (DPR) to the Union ministry of road transport and highway for approval. “Some 26,890 acres of land will be acquired for the mega project,” a senior R&B official said.
