CM inaugurates KDCA-ACA cricket grounds at Mulapadu

Vijayawada: Ahead of the first women’s ODI in Amaravati on Thursday, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu formally inaugurated the international cricket grounds at Mulapadu on Wednesday. The two grounds, developed by Krishna District Cricket Association – Andhra Cricket Association, have been named after Chukkapalli Pitchaiah (south ground) and Devineni Venkata Ramana

Speaking on the occasion, Naidu vowed to transform Andhra Pradesh into ‘Kreedandhra Pradesh’. “In the days ahead, Andhra Pradesh should become synonymous with cricket in terms of players, facilities and coaching. If we go by merit, no one in the world can beat Indians and I hope sportspersons from Andhra Pradesh will make it to international team,” he said and lauded ACA for developing these grounds in a beautiful location.

He further recalled his vision for sports which enabled Pullela Gopichand to establish a badminton academy in which Olympic medallist PV Sindhu was trained. He said that Amaravati is an ideal location for any sport.
Prior to his address, Chandrababu tried his hand at batting while BCCI vice-president and BJP MP Gokaraju Ganga Raju kept wickets.

The first international tournament between India and West Indies at the stadium will feature three ODIs and three T20s. While the three ODIs will be held on November 10, 13 and 16, the T 20 matches are scheduled for November 18, 20 and 22. The ODIs will begin at 9 am and the T 20 matches at 1.30 pm.
