Shift of the durbar has happened and the government is almost functioning from the Interim Government Complex (IGC) at Velagapudi and, yet, some of the government online portals still bear the information of offices in Hyderabad. Most of the information on www.ap.gov.in, the official portal of AP government, has not been updated though most of the council of ministers, principal secretaries, heads of departments and other officials are functioning from IGC.

Experts say an absence of updated information on the websites not only contradicts the CM’s claims that he is using the internet for smart governance but also defeats the whole purpose of an online portal. “The purpose of a website is to keep people updated with the changes in the government. If it doles out old information, what is the point of having it? Except for promoting that the government is using the internet for real-time governance, it doesn’t serve any objective,” pointed out K Srikanth, a data analyst at a private ITES firm.

Websites of agriculture, civil supplies, finance, higher education departments and others were quick to change the addresses of the offices to those in Amaravati, departments like municipal administration, transport, water resources, roads and buildings and a few others are yet to update their websites.
