KCR forms committee to promote cashless economy

HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday appointed a committee to promote cashless economyand address hardships faced by people post-demonetisation.

After holding a high-level meeting with senior officials, the CM decided to set up the committee with senior IAS officers Suresh Chanda, Shanti Kumari, Navin Mittal, Jayesh Ranjan, Raghunandan and Surendra Mohan.

He directed the finance officials not to be complacent on the issue as a large section of people were facing trouble in getting small change. The meeting also discussed remedial measures to be taken to overcome the shortage of small notes and decided to bring pressure on RBI to get more currency. The CM directed the newly-appointed committee to explore all possibilities to increase cashless transactions in different departments and also in the private sector.

The committee will meet before the cabinet meeting on Monday and present its views.

The Telangana state cabinet is to meet on Monday to take stock of the situation following the ban of 500 and 1,000 notes.
