Nikhil is Last Man Standing
Couple of days ago, November month was jam-packed with several films slated to compete at the box office. However, the situation has taken the extreme turn after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the startling announcement of banning Rs 500 and 1,000 notes.
Last Friday, we saw the release of only one film, Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Saahasam Swasaga Saagipo’. Despite no opposition at box office, the romantic drama has failed to garner decent revenues because of the cash scarcity. We will be having another solo release on this coming Friday and that is Nikhil’s romantic thriller ‘Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada
Earlier, Vijay Antony’s ‘Bethaludu’, Vishal’s ‘Okkadochadu’ and comedian Sreenivasa Reddy’s promising film ‘Jayammu Nischayammuraa’ were also looking at this coming Friday, 18th November, but these films got postponed in the aftermath of demonetization. Makers of Nihkil’s film however have decided to stick to their release date.
Of course, the revenues of EPC will take a blow but on the positive side, the film is having a solo release. If not for the demonetization effect, EPC would have to face stiff competition with the aforementioned films so the revenues would have been dented anyway. Considering both the scenarios, makers seem to have found this solo release a better option
