SCR allays passengers’ concerns on tickets
Vijayawada: With complaints galore from passengers that high currency are not being accepted at the ticket counters in various stations, officials of South Central Railway said on Wednesday evening that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes will be accepted till November 11.
They said passengers will not be put to hardship. South Central Railway general manager Ravindra Gupta held a key meeting with senior officials and divisional railway managers through a video conference to chalk out a plan of action so as to ensure that passengers are not put to any inconvenience during the course of their travel.
He said that Rs 500 and Rs 1000 being legal tender till November 11 should be accepted at all railway stations and at food stalls.
However, he had a word of caution that any buhigh-value value ticket bookings should be monitored and the refund process should be made through banks.
